Installation

The Plotgardener App is distributed as a single .dmg file that bundles all prerequisites — including a self-contained R environment — so no separate R or package installation is required.

  1. Download the latest .dmg from the releases page.
  2. Open the .dmg file and drag the Plotgardener App into your Applications folder.
  3. On first launch, macOS may display a security prompt. If so, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.
  4. Open the app and start building.

Verifying Your Installation

Once the app is open, you should see the four-tab interface (Page, Plots, Save, Code) alongside a figure preview pane. To confirm everything is working:

  1. Click the Page tab and enter a page width and height (e.g., 5 x 5 inches).
  2. Click the Plots tab, select a function from the dropdown (e.g., plotRect), and confirm that parameter fields populate automatically.
  3. Fill in the required parameters and click Add Plot.
  4. Click Run Script — the preview pane should render the figure.

If the preview renders successfully, the app is installed and working correctly. For a full walkthrough of each tab, see the User Interface guide.
